Yokosuka

Yokosuka Bay Square
Located in Kanagawa prefecture, Yokosuka is the city famous of it's huge US naval base.
Yokosuka can be found easily, it's on the South West side of the great Tokyo Bay, just after Yokohama. US aircraft carried USS Kitty Hawk is stationed here, and locals are concerned of it being replaced by newer atomic energy operated carrier.
You can access Yokosuka from Tokyo most conveniently by using commuter line called "Keikyu". The destination of this train is usually Miura. It costs around 600 yen and rapid line takes about 40 minutes.
Yokosuka's streetlife
is strongly influenced by the presence of US naval base. There are many foreigners and US soldiers present. This gives a market for small shops specialising selling all kinds of souvenirs from Japan.
Yokosuka Bay Square is romantic place to visit especially at sunset, if not especially safe. You can access there from Yokosuka-chuo stop from Keikyu line. From Yokosuka you can also visit conveniently places such as Miura (and fantastic Aburatsubo aquarium), Tsukuihama, Kurihama.. Download Keikyu railway map from here.
