Vending Machines in Japan
One thing what you cannot miss in Japan are those vending machines. They have spreaded all over Japan and I've been trying to figure out how many of those
there are in Japan.
You can buy hot drinks from those also. It was really surprising for me as Finnish. Especially hot and cool can coffee is really popular among Japanese. My personal favorite is "Wonda". These machines serve really well and they are specially designed so the bottle or can wont break when it goes down to the hatch. And one thing in these are that they always work and they never eat your coins. (There are rumour about one case, in middle of 80', but it was never confirmed to be true, it might be just urban legend)
Also many other products can be found from those machines, including icecream, all kinds of snacks and foods and candies. Usually they cost from 80 yen up to 500 or more. Canned coke was surprisingly cheaper in Tokyo than it was in Kyoto. It was 140Yen in Kyoto and 100Yen in Tokyo.
Another story is that how much 800 000 vending machines consume electricity..
(Am I the only one who is having hard time enjoying "Pocari Sweat"? I mean, who invented this brand? It tastes much better than I could imagine though..")
