Born in January 27, 1966 Okinawa, Japan. She made her first role in TV series Santa Barbara as Lily Murakami. Her first movie role was in KarateKid 2 as Kumiko, native girl from Okinawa. Soon, her image soon formed as a defender of nation's spirit in Japan after she appeared in Hiroshima Maiden. One of most surprising roles of her was in Four Rooms, movie of Quentin Tarantino, as wife of character played by Antonio Banderas.
She has appeared in numerous TV shows including Chigago Hope, Nash Bridges, The Sentinel, Quantum Leap, and The Shield. Especially her performance in Babylon 5 was cheered among scifi enthusiasts. Her natural yet upright acting seemed to fit very well to the character of Lt. Cmdr. Laurel Takashima. She has made a good career as a scifi actress. In 2003, she was cast in Robot Stories, movie directed by Greg Pak.
Recently she was in Tizuka Yamasaki's "Gaijin - Ama-me Como Sou" (2005) and in The Day After Tomorrow (2004) as Janet Tokada. Her appearances in 2006 include TV Episode "Commander in Chief" - No Nukes Is Good Nukes and episode of Stargate SG-1 "Crusade" which is going to be aired on March 2006.
She currently resides in California and is dating actor Stan Egi. She claims that her bad habit is smoking. She spends her free time taking part of charity work and Asian-American community.
