Shinano River
Shinano River (Shinanogawa) is largest river of Japan. It stretches all the way from Nagano Prefecture to Niigata Prefecture.
It rises at the foot of Mt Kobushi, in the Japanese Alps in Honshu island, and flows north-northeast until it enters Sea of Japan in Niigata.
Shinano River is called Chikuma River on the Nagano prefecture side.
The Shinano River is notorious of it's flooding. It has repeatedly flown over it's banks, causing severe destruction.
