Ramen is the famous Japanese fast food that can be bought from traditional Japanese ramen restaurants. Ramen is popular food for students and salarymen due to its relatively low price, and availability, usually near any train station there is at least one ramen shop.
Ramen shops are very fast - it takes them only few minutes to bring you a steaming bowl of delicious noodles. When eating raamen, Japanese people always slurp them, to indicate their enjoyment. There are many tastes, shojyu, pork, miso, vegetable, egg, chanko.
There are also cup ramen (instant ramen) available in supermarkets - all you need to add water and wait a little. And its very cheap. Maruchan , Top Ramen, and Nissin are few of these brands. They come in different flavors such as chicken, shrimp, roast chicken, curry chicken, beef , roast beef, oriental, and vegetable. Also there are ingredients to make instant ramen. In the following picture Japanese singer Akiko Wada advertises one of the such.
Ramen, history of ramen and the philosophy of this Japanese spaghetti food was wonderfully portrayed in Juzo Itami's movie Tampopo.
