Nippori is one of the central interchange stations in Taito-ku (one of the 23 wards in Tokyo). This is often the first sight of Tokyo foreigners see since Keisei Electric Railway stops here from Narita. In addition to Keisei Line, the station is served by Joban Line, Keihin-Tohoku line, and Yamanote Line.

Nippori is well within a walking distance from Ueno. Along the path to Ueno is a famous graveyard. Nippori also has a famous textile street which is popular place among young textile designers.

Next to Nippori is Uguisudani in Yamanote Line.
