Nagase Masatoshi is famous of his movies with director Hiroyuki Nakano such as in Stereo Future. Recently he was also cast in Yoji Yamada's recent samurai epic (starring also Matsu Takako). Nagase Masatoshi is best known abroad in cult movie Mystery Train by Jim Jarmusch. Nagase Masatoshi is a kind of cult actor, especially from movies like Stereo Future or Hama Maiku (Japanese Mike Hammer). Perhaps one of the most memorable of his roles were in earlier movies of Yamada Yoji, such as Musuko (1991) and Yukai (1997).
He also acted in funny TV commercials, perhaps the best known was a series of cup noodle ads. He has also released two albums and is an active artist and photographer. He married a star Koizumi Kyoko in 1995 but they divorced in 2004. The rumours say that he is dating Japanese POP star Mika Nagashima currently.
He has an interesting expression, somehow I think he is an actor we will see more in near future.
