Japanese love hotels
Love hotels are often topic of interest among foreigners in Japan. Actually not only Japanese phenomena but also korean, these hotels "for resting" offer rooms from one hour to entire night. These days love hotels have often automated check in system so that the customers don't need to get into embarassing service situation. Despite this, sometimes you still have to pay to old lady that gazes suspiciously through a small hole in the window covered with dark curtains..
Love hotels are fascinating element of modern Japan. I suspect they appeared to Japan sometimes in sexual revolution, around 70's. In the fast paced city life it seems to be a nest for couples to escape the sometimes intimidating outer world. Have a bit of privacy after work. If not to make love, to have shower, watch news and have a quiet talk. As we know, even kissing is something Japanese don't do outside.
Married couples that look for a change in their lovemaking, young guys taking out their girlfriends. A casual flings. Aged couple finding new spark to their sex. You name it. But everyone knows in Japan what a lovehotel is.
There used to be really wild ones with themes like UFO's, bumber cars, karaoke equipments. Disco lights. I suppose these themes were supposed to give an additional thus strange value to lovemaking. Nowadays though, the lovehotels resemble more of an ordinary hotel than a theme park. Also during past years lovehotels have became much more clean and they have lost some of their dark and bit muddy feel. That's something the customers seem to really require these days.
Large and comfortable baths for two are almost always there. Beauty products such as combs, makeup removers and stuff, not to forget condoms are also included.
As expected, even places like lovehotels are branded with cute symbols of cats or animals. A love hotel small condom box said "Dancing makes us excited" with two cheerfull cats dancing. Interesting thing is that the advertisement seems to be directed for women even in this matter. It has been suggested that in Japan usually it is the woman who makes the initiative suggestion, "let's go to love hotel". Cute cats and bears that look so cute, make interesting mix with labels such as PROSTITUTION FORBIDDEN.
Interesting addition are the LOVE HOTEL DIARIES. The visitors can jot down their stories into those. Typical stories are 19 years old boy's description of his first sex experience with a call girl. Or married couple having a change in their daily life. Or heartbreaking complaints of married people.
There have been suspicion that some of the love hotels are bugged by police in order to track down criminals. Sometimes when you see the large mirror there, you wish that you have a flashlight with you to check if there is really a wall behind it.. The feel of lovehotels is somehow a bit gloomy and damp always. Sometimes you hear the neighbors.
And the cost is high. Three hours might be 5000 yen. And in weekend naturally the cost is higher. Working hours seems to be the choice of an economical lovemaker. Sometimes it's good idea to compare the price with normal hotel. You'd miss the fancy tub, but get a comfortable bed and a decent decor.
