Keiko Matsui:
Under Northern Lights
Keiko Matsui's romantic synthesizer album Under Northern Lights (1989) caught my
attention when I was browsing the synthesizer section in the CD shop. I thought this is spectacular! The music makes me feel like I'm listening 80's Vangelis production - but there is still something really romantic and unheard about this music.
The first track of Under Northern Lights made me feel really nostalgic. I thought this could be how aurora really sounds like. Since myself I am from Finland and got adjusted watching aurora - it caught my attention.
The CD has amazing variety of different moods. Ruins of Sonora is a little moody piece that reminds me of something from west part of Europe, perhaps France and includes really exciting part with synthesized flute, perhaps played by Kazu Matsui.
This music is something I want to listen in airport or airplane. I will recommend this album for every synthesizer music fans over the world.
Keiko and Kazu matsui have published a huge selections CD's together in US, Japan and abroad. Their latest album is U.S. release, Walls of Akendora.
