Katakana's shape is contains straight and simplified lines, while hiragana has more round and organic shape.

For example ramen ラーメン (noodle soup originally from Japan) or gyoza ギョザ (Chinese dumplings) are written with katakana. Or computer keyboard キーボード (Ki-bo-do).

Jimi Hendrix got name ジミヘン (Jimihen) in Japan and Brad Pit is known as ブラッド ピット (Buraddu Pitto). Japanese actor Kimura Takuya has also nickname in katakanaキムタク (Kimutaku).

Hi,
This is great blog but i found two things to be improved.
1.You wrote like gyoza ギョザ (Chinese dumplings) but this should be ギョウザ.
2.You would need to write like "ブラピ(=Burapi)" this is a short form of Brad Pit or ブラッド ピット.

regards,
Makoto
