Kansai region (Kansai-chih?) is an area in southern-central region of Japan's largest and central island, Honshu.

Three large cities form a "Kansai triangle", Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto.

In Kansai area also exists the biggest lake of Japan, Biwako and Japan's earlier capital city, Nara.

Kansai region's residents speak a peculiar kansai dialect.

Kansai Airport (KIX) serves the international flights to this region and is a popular connection hub for flight traffic from this area.

Kansai people are often said to have a strong sense of humour.

One of the famous food of kansai is takoyaki.
