Kamakura

Kamakura
Kamakura - Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine

Surrounded by mountains and the coast line, Kamakura has the true essence of different elements. Kamakura is located in Kanagawa, about 50 km south-west of Tokyo, nearby Yokosuka.

Kamakura is the optimal place to bring your date on sundays. There is a lot to see, and although it can be crowded, it's worth of that. It is in convenient distance from Tokyo, takes about two hours or so with JR line.

Kamakura used to be chief city of whole Kanto region, and from the 12th to 14th century, Minamoto shoguns lived here - thus it was called Kamakura shogunate.

Massive bronze statue of Amida Buddha and Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine are most famous places to see in Kamakura. Also here exists plenty of nice restaurants and shops, plus a beach.

Shonan beach is also near from here.
