Japanese Akita Dogs

Japanese Akita dogs, known in Japan as Akita ken, originated from northern part of Honshu. They have Japanese Akita Dog become famous all over the world from their brave, yet simple and honest look. Akita ken is not afraid of human and are very kind towards man.

Akita dogs are preserved as a valuable national monuments since World War I. The Akita Inu Hozankai Society of Japan was founded 1927 - in order to protect and preserve the breed.

In the old times, Akita dogs were dogs of the very rich only but howadays anyone who really wants can have his / her companion from Akita Prefecture, Japan.

Akita dogs are said to be intelligent, but bossy. They need control, but also love as much as any other dog in the world.

Characterictics of the Akita dogs are long and flat head, with small and triangular ears. The muscles are tight and strong, and the dog has a thick feet.

Perhaps the most famous example of Akita Dogs is in Shibuya Station, the statue of Loyal Dog Hachi. Akita prefecture in Japan is also called Akita ken, but pronouncication is little different.
