Hiragana
Hiragana (平仮名 or ひらがな) is Japanese syllable based writing, similar to katakana. Unlike katakana, hiragana is mainly used with words that are native to Japanese language.
Each hiragana is either vowel or a consonant followed by a wovel or n ん.
For example あ or か。
Although Hiragana table suggest learning the hiraganas in order あいうえお (aiueo), a clever japanese student will soon familiarize hiraganas in the vertical order あかさたな.. (akasatana..). This is useful because Japanese mobile phones have hiraganas layouted this way in the buttons, and one can access, for example ち(chi) by tapping た(ta) marked button two times.
