Fukuoka city is located on plains of southern island of Japan, Kyushu. The climate in Fukuoka is often described mild with the annual average temperature being around 16-17C.

Fukuoka is famous of Fukuoka Art Museum which is often left unvisited by travelers. Fukuoka Art Museum holds exhibitions centering around pre-modern craftworks, paintings and calligraphies. Another interesting sight is futuristic Fukuoka Tower that reminds structures seen in Star Wars Episode III. Also Sky Dream Fukuoka, the huge ferris wheel (height of 120m!) continues to attract visitors.

Fukuoka suffered earthquake in 2005 despite it's relatively seismically quiet location. Luckily only one person died but more than 400 were injured in this registered of 7 Japan intensity scale.

Fukuoka is close to the Korean Peninsula - thus it was the original port to Japan before Meiji period.

Fukuoka has a vivid nightlife and people are relaxed and friendly there.
