Chu-hi

Kirin Chu-hiChu-hi or Chuhai チューハイ is the famous Japanese alcohol among young people, and perhaps everyone. Being the popular alternative to beer, the strength of chu-hi is pretty much around 4-5%. The name has originally came from "shochu highball" where highball means either the famous drink or the highball glass.

There are many variations of the taste, some offering grapefruit and berry taste. Most popular chu-hi- drinks are made by Suntory or Kirin. You can often buy Chu-hi in vending machines while staying in hotel.
