Reasonable Cost Dining in Japan

Everyone keeps saying that Japan and especially Tokyo is expensive country and eating out is horribly expensive there.

This might, of course, be true if you go to eat in Prince Hotel or famous fugu restaurant in Ginza.

But there are various reasonable options out there. Here we will take a look at some of them.

Udon shops

There are various cheap udon shops accross Tokyo.

In center of Shibuya stands Hanamaru udon shop, which offers udon at 105 yen. It's fresh and delicious and you get hot cup of ocha too.

Ony is getting popular among young fashionable adults. Ony offers onigiri and udon and obento boxes, starting from 100 yen. See more: arrowwww.ony.jp

Fast Food Shops

If you are for it, shops like Matsuya or Yoshinoya give you steaming hot bowl of gyudon or curry for something between 300-500 yen. This is usually cheaper than any hamburger shops.

MOS Burger is more healthy and delicious than any McDonalds out there, and when you think of the quality of food, it is also more cheaper. We recommend avoiding the US alternative. Freshness Burger is rather good, but is generally more pricey.

Obento

Although this alternative doesn't exactly mean "Dining out" in sense of restaurant, this alternative is worth of checking. There are various obento shops, some of them which are open 24 hours per day. In some of them you can assemble your own obento box by selecting from the foods available. This might cost you 500 yen but it's real food. Nearby park is good place to go to eat it. And this is healthier and more tasty than anything you can get from nearby conbini.
