Stockmann hullut paivat
Aug 20th, 2007, 10:46pm

I really need to find a reasonable cost airticket to Japan, preferably from 1st of October.
I heard Hullut Paivat would be coming again? Does anyone know if it's coming anytime soon?
I am in a jam, I checked various options and almost in any place the ticket costs more than thousand euro in October, even through www.laatumatkat.fi
Is there possibility to get cheap ticket from Estonia?

Ok, so I've got some numbers:

Finnair offers a direct flights 30.9. - 31.10 at 1064EUR plus 15euro fee *when paying by credit card.

Laatumatkat has changed their cost! Now their website reports that from 1.10 - 31.10 their cost is no more than 903.04EUR plus some cost. This is bearable.
I must make an inquiry to my Japanese insider contact in the firm if there is any chance to "shave" the cost a bit..

Would someone suggest another shop to check?

OK, Mr.Hasegawa surprised again, in his site: http://www.japaninspesialisti.fi
he mentions August offer: Helsinki - Nagoya plus JR Railpass 795€
If I buy that, I can just jump into a shinkansen in Nagoya and go to Tokyo from there, still, of course I would have to pay the Tokyo - Nagoya return fee.
I must make quick inquiry of September offers as I know him somehow. I will let you know what I hear.
Still this kind of rates sound more reasonable so it might very well be that I am going to be their customer once again.

SAS reports that it's cheapest flight is €750.00 to Tokyo, but this cost does not include the airport tax. Probably its pretty much near 800 when you add the reservation fee. Laatumatkat cost is much more reasonable because it includes the JR Railpass.
I got a positive sounding reply from Ohno-san in Laatumatkat.
Their customer service is so good and their terms are very flexible, plus they have Japanese airline professionals among their staff. Thumbs up!

I think I'm going in November.. It seems I should buy my tickets soon!

What am I waiting for? The school to start next week?
That's just stupid, because I am planning to skip school to experience Japan.  Cool

I can't understand what's stupid about that? That sounds like a brilliant idea!  Wink
Besides, you are studying Japanese culture, aren't you?
Going to Japan should be a basic requirement for students in your school.

It's like tasting bread for bakery students. How can you ever know what your bread tastes if you never taste it?
I recommend to take a good bite of this bread, Ainusan. You won't be disappointed.

But really, tell me someone, is there Hullut Paivat coming or not?

Ok, here's the latest update:

Laatumatkat Company's Ohno-san told me that the offer to Nagoya is valid until 14.9. Before that if you make reservation it is ok. The cost really is pretty much exactly 800EUR including all the cost, that's it!

Direct flight to Tokyo is about 1300 or so. So it really seems that Finnair's flights to Nagoya didn't sell that well.

heres the deal:
You get return Finnair flight to Nagoya. This is a direct flight!
Then, you get one week Japan Railpass which you can use when you please.

Considering what other companies have to offer, I have to say this deal is very good.

Ohno-san joked though that the food in Finnair flight is... well, not exactly delicious.. potatoes and meatballs everytime.. lol

I am very pleased with the customer service of the guys in Laatumatkat. I highly recommend them.

Haha.  Cheesy  I might have been unclear.

I meant that it is stupid to wait until I buy the tickets, not stupid to skip school.

That Laatumatkat offer sounds really good. I would need JR pass because I plan to go to 京都.  Roll Eyes

I can't believe I'm really going.
Always the same anxiety!

Hullut päivät will surely come.. But will they have flights to Japan is the question!

Haha, its good you made that clear Smiley

Anoo ne.. I have a contact person in Stockmann.
I will send inquiry to her and report back to you.

800 direct flight is very cheap being not the offer from Finnair.

You're going to Japan to direct the film, right? It begins soon? Man, I can't wait for it to come out!

For flights between Finland and Japan, there's also India Center that used to offer round trips for around 700€ (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka). At present it's more like 860€. But Ohno-san really is the best.  Grin

Ainu-san, you're also going? To Tokyo? Be careful, the cheapest Japan Rail Pass is more expensive than a single Tokyo-Kyoto round trip paid in cash. And Japan Rail Pass is not valid for Nozomi that runs on Tokaido line. You'd have to use the slower Hikari or Kodama. I used Dream Line night bus. Saved on fare and two nights accommodations.

I heard that there were tickets to Osaka on ebookers for less than 500 euro. But I haven't checked.

A schoolbuddy came back from Japan yesterday. She had taken the laatumatkat offer and recommended it to me.

I think that it is reasonable. Direct flights, JR pass (which I would make good use of, Acjama-san). That friend from school said that a day visit of Hiroshima could be possible, and I think Nara would be fun to see..

I don't want to spend the whole month in Tokyo. And I save on accommodations because I'm a hospitality club member.
And there is a sumo tournament in November I don't remember where, but not in Tokyo.. (I checked: Kyûshû)

Horray!

I made my reservation! I can't stand to wait... Maybe there will be better offers, maybe not. November is the best time for me (I can enjoy Christmas holidays in Finland and catch up with the school work).

Though the food onboard might not be good, at least one can get some green tea.
That's luxury!

I told my sensei that I might be going on November and he muttered something bad..
Can't remember what, so I think he is just jealous.
He hasn't been in Japan since Christmas 2006 or something... Poor fellow.

My dream of three years is coming true.
I hope I don't die first.  Cool

I concur. That is exactly how I reacted twice (before my own plans). It was pure jealousy.  embarrassed
Now I get the same reaction from others.  Wink

Ainu's word was interesting, because that was exactly how I felt when I got my first airticket to Japan. I was worried I would get injured or something, I mean, it felt like too good to be true.. But don't worry Ainu, of course nothing will happen. Soon you can enjoy being there in Japan, eating delicious sashimi and taking a walk in the Japanese scenery. I hope you remember us here in this discussion room then..

Now that I have "unsettled" to live in this new house, I feel confused and empty at best. The finnish people here and all this, hmm, cultural atmosphere of this island.. I feel I need to get out from here to breath! And the old resident is still here, smoking inside the house.. And sure enough, now, everything I happen to own smells cigarette too.

But I realized how fragile thing friendship can be. We can be friends with someone, even for a long time, support each other you know, and then just suddenly *snap* something and that friendship is all over.. and there is very little to do to restore it. These kind of things occur especially with people who have tendency to drink too much.

So I spend my days holed up in my work room (Today I installed my good old work desk! I love this black polished desk! Good memories came with it) and try my best to figure out work things so that I can get enough money to go to Japan in October and shoot my documentary (put it out of it's misery).

Well, maybe things will be ok, even though they look confusing at times to times. If we take positive action, the future is something that will just come. I hope so.
